They were coming on very strong to one of the girls in our group. I handed one of them a twig (approximate length 1/4 inch) that I found stuck between two pavement bricks. I commented on my find and offered it as a gift. I had to repeat the deal two or three times because he did not seem to understand my initial offer. Confused, they left. They never accepted the gift twig.

Two drunk guys came up to talk with us while we were visiting on a street corner in downtown Boise. One of the girls in our group was uncomfortable. She told Drunk Guy #1 that we were having a Bible study, thinking this would make him leave. It didn't. Drunk Guy #1, encouraged by the fact that this girl actually spoke with him, stood next to her and said he would dream about her that night. She's a bit flighty, and she overreacted (screamed). I was standing there and was bored, so I decided to be useful in getting rid of the drunk guys. The challenge I set for myself was to make them leave without being violent, abusive or rude. I distracted Drunk Guy #1 by offering him a small piece of wood I found on the ground. He got confused, muttered something about our crazy religious ways and walked away with his friend. Apparently, this makes me a superhero in Nick's eyes. I guess it makes sense since he's always looked up to me.

Biggest agricultural products out here are sugar beets (White Satin sugar), seed crops, and dairy. Largest employers, however, are education (BSU, ACI, NNU, U of I, ISU, BBC, TVCC, public schools) and high tech (HP, Micron, MPC). The area we live in is a desert plateau with two decent rivers (Boise & Snake) and two, nearby ranges (Owyhees to the south and Boise Foothills to the east are each within 30 minutes of my house). The best outdoor activities include ice-blocking down Simplot Hill (ride a block of ice like a sled), floating the Boise River (2-hour float ends at Julia Davis Park), or fooling around at Bruneau Sand Dunes (at more than 450 feet from base to crest, they're the tallest dunes in North America). There are also four or five natural hot springs close by, though one of them is closed off for the summer because of a recent death. Big, local sport is soccer. Marv & Beano both play. Due to a traumatic childhood experience (involving soccer), I'm kind of anti-team sports. Dale (Nick) might play football or something, but I think he spends most of his time on the computer or bugging me and my sister. My sister plays on two, indoor soccer teams. I don't know what she plans to do for the summer, but she's a bit of a fanatic, so she'll probably find a way to play.

Had skiing there back in the 1800s but not today. Other nearby ski resorts (all within 2 hours) are Anthony Lakes, Brundage, and Pomerelle. Sun Valley isn't too far either. On another note, four consecutive team wins means we're back up in the top 100 (99th).
