| Posted by trond sitecolony.com 5/23/2004 01:02:08 Play online chess | Richard Message: It is very easy. You have to force the opponents king to the edge of the board with your rook and king. Then you put him checkmate by checking with the rook while your king covers all escape routes. Checkmate for instance with his/her king at g8, your king at g6 and your rook at any of a8-e8. You use the same techinque for driving him off to one edge of the board as you do to checkmate. For instance his/her king at d7 your king at d5 and check him with your rook at, say, a7. The king is then forced to the rim of the board, and your rook will keep him there :) Then you chase after him with your king to get the mating pattern occur again. For instance after the situation i sketched above (assume your'e white): 1. Ra7+ Kc8 2. Kd6 Kb8 3. Rh7 Kc8 4. Rg7 Kb8 5. Kc6 Ka8 6. Kb6 Kb8 7. Rg8# mate. Good luck Rich :-) |
